Men. Time trial

It is not often when the time of the first racer remains the best for a long time. However, even ninerivals could not beat the result of JapaneseYudaNitt. But then heavyweights from Great Britain, Germany, France, the Netherlands came on the track, who immediately seized the power in their own hands.

But one of the three top favorites did not confirm his status. 32-year DutchmanTeun Mulder started the distance fast, with the best time, but finally could not stand the pace. Here is another experienced racer Francois Pervi, on the contrary, showed himself in all his glory. Driving kilometer took Frenchman 1.00,221! This is the best time of the season that brought Francois to his first career World Championship gold.

Completed the competitionNew Zealander Simon van Felthoofen who took run not good not bad (only 11-th result), but then gained turn with each round and finally won a well-deserved silver. One should note also about the bronze of the young German racer Joachim Aylers.

FrancoisPervidid not secret that he was in seventh heaven: "It was the race of my life. Because I have never won the World Cup. Finally the dream came true. Two weeks ago I showed a good result in the championship in France, that’s why I was capable of a great deal "

Perhaps the most stellar view of the first day. Let Anna Mears and Victoria Pendleton took a vacation. Butnot British and Australian duo were heroes of London Olympics - in the final fought Germany and China. And Chinesesportswomen, having run faster, were relegated to silver because of false passing the distance.

So Chinese and Germen met in the final again, moreover in the same compositions. In qualifying of irreconcilable rivals shared only one thousandth - German woman trailed in all the cut-off in the end were a little faster. This history was repeated in the final. Young Gun Jingjie overclocked faster, but in the second part of the race experienced GuoShuang lost the advantage in the confrontation with Christine Vogel.

Women. Individual pursuit

Women's pursuit is not included in the Olympic program, but at the World Championships in Minsk took part two London Games medalists - American Sarah Hammer and Australian Annette Edmondson. The only missingperson was British champion in the Omnium Laura Trott, who also arrived in Minsk, but preferred to keep forces for profile discipline.

In the absence of young British women the world record Hammer confirmed her high level. And in the final not Edmondson stood against her but Australian Amy Currie, who trialed her compatriot in qualifying. But even she could not manage to outgo great Sarah Hammer. Currie startedfast and trialed American for a second. But then Hammer became faster and faster, nearly beating her opponent in the round.

Sarah Hammer said after the finish: "She's young, and I am experienced. Therefore I was not particularly nervous when I saw that the opponent went forward. I knew that the second part of the race I could jack up the speed. Victory might have seemed easy, but it was not so. Pursuit includes two races for a day. And one should prepare in a proper way ,to recover - otherwise you will achieve nothing. I love cycling, I love and that’s why I decided not to take the time for rest after the Olympic Games in London. I'm very glad that I was able to succeed in Minsk ".

Thefirstworldchampionship’sdramawasin qualifying men’s team pursuit. Trendsetter combined teamof the UK and Australia brought to Minsk new teams and did not look so undisputed favorites. To the forefront were going to move out Russians, who achieved over the past few years significant progress. From the first meters Russian team showed seriousness, setting the best time at each cutoff. However, at the end of one kilometer of the racers Arthur Ershov fell on the track, and his comrades had to continue to fight three. Guys are not scattered, desperately fought, and quite a bit could not reach the fourth place, which gave a start in the bronze final. But respect of the audience and rivals deserved fully.

In the final once again clashed teams from Australia and the UK. Representatives of the Green Continent run much faster than in qualifying. But the British were not able to be faster and lost almost four seconds.
