Oleg Prohorchik, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of OJSC Bank BelVEB.

Nikolai Ladutko said:

"The calls of the national cycling federation to banks, factories, owners of private enterprises, to support the holding of the cycling world championship, did not go unanswered. On the contrary, we received support in many forms. Speaking of the funding for the championship, we can say that the residents of Minsk and the entire country provided the funding. I would like to emphasize that the entire nation made the common input and demonstrated the true citizenship. The next opportunity to host such event will be after 10 years, or more. The plans are made well in advance, and many countries are willing to host such events. Nations build new velodromes, people practice the sport, athletes prepare. We should take pride in hosting such high profile sport event. It is possible that some people do not totally apprehend it today, and the public will only recognize the importance of this championship for development of the sport in the years to come."

Alexei Ivanov said:

"We have sold 80 percent of the tickets already, and we receive numerous applications every day. We do our best to satisfy them. The teams from Australia, UK, Belgium, Holland, the main trendsetters in the track cycling, have arrived in Minsk, and started training in the Minsk-Arena velodrome. 34 countries confirmed their participation in the world championship. We hope to see even more countries. The Belarusian TV and Radio Company, Belteleradio, will do the broadcasting, and, as we know, 25 TV channel will broadcast the world championship live, and about 75 more TV channels will broadcast the recorded footage of the championships based on the arrangements with the International Cycling Union. According to the estimate of the International Cycling Union, about 150 million people will watch the championships held in Minsk."

The National Team of the Republic of Belarus, which will represent the country in the championships, was unveiled during the press conference.
